Congratulations to Mackenzie Lima! Winner of the Fort Hood Hero Art Contest

Art by Mackenzie Lima

Arabian Horses For Humanity is proud to announce that MacKenzie Lima of Fort Hood Texas is the winner of the contest to paint Hero for Humanity. Hero has been donated to the 3D Cavalry Association at Fort Hood and his mission is to raise awareness for Equine Assisted Therapy for Veterans and their families and The All Glory Project, founded by Elizabeth Shatner.

Mackenzie and her husband, Nick, may be relatively new to military life, but have embraced their new lifestyle wholeheartedly. Nick enlisted in the spring of 2018 and and in no time the young couple were on their way to their new assignment at Fort Hood Texas. It wasn’t long before Mackenzie found a way to support not only her husband’s new career, but her new military family as well.

In April 2019, less than a year after arriving at Fort Hood, Mackenzie was awarded a Certificate of Appreciate from the 3D Engineer Battalion for “Exceptionally selfless service as the Battalions Graphics Person”. Noteworthy among her contributions in this regard—painting two murals in the conference room of the 3rd Engineer Battalion Building.

A self-taught artist, Mackenzie works in many mediums, including hyper-realistic pen art, colored pencils and acrylic and it’s acrylic that she’ll be using to execute her design for Hero. Working on site in the conference room of the 3rd Cavalry Building conference room, Mackenzie is already well on her way with this project!
